My 9 wk old XXXXX XXXXX keeps scratching; but no sign of fleas. He was dewormed at three weeks. When I gave 2nd dewormer dose @ 9 weeks, iwas surprized to see round worms in his stool. Are the worms causing him to scratch himself?

could the worms causing scratching? Yes, that actually is possible
Not surprised, at all, to see worms now.
That is why vets recommend deworming starting at 3 weeks of age, and should be repeated EVERY 3 weeks up until about 16 weeks of age. Very common practice.
However, there could be a separate issue like early mange (mites). That could be demodex or scabies. So, if scratching persists, he may need to get into a vet for simple skin scraping test.
Make sure to deworm again at 11 and 13-14 weeks of age.
