I have a 7 wk old pullet seems healthy, eats, drinks and is active but her manure in watery and loose, not red or yellow just loose, of course she is my favorite, what to do?
Good morning, I will try and help you with your pullet. First, how do you house her. Is she free range or in a pen? What type of bedding do you use, if she is in a pen? What type of feed do you use?One of the first things I would think of is internal parasites. Coccidia is a common parasite that mainly affects young birds. You can get medicine to go in her water. The best thing to do is take a stool sample by your veterinarian or an avian veterinarian and have it checked to see if she does have parasites. If you choose to go ahead and treat for coccidia, you can purchase the medicine at most feed stores or on line at Murray McMurray Hatchery. The treatment should not hurt her, but will not help if it is something other than coccidia.Hope this is helpful.Let me know if you have any other questions.
we have her in a newly built coop with 10 other pullets, with medicated chick starter food and pine shavings for bedding, the other chickens seem fine I will try the medicine and check with a vet if she isn't better thank you! unless you have any other information for me with the added details.
No, nothing more right now. Try the meds and see if that helps. Be sure she is not consuming the shavings. It's unlikely, but I have known some chickens to do that.Best of luck. Let me know how things turn out.
How is your chicken doing?
She seems to be doing fine, she seems to have gotten past her issue in afew days and is well thanks for your help
very good!
