My dog swallowed thread from a carpet which unravelled as she swallowed so there was a tangled mass when she vomited it up. We are waiting for the vet to come today so not had any treatment as yet. This happened four days ago and she is getting worse, drinking lots of water but refusing food. She has been sick several times just yellow liquid but I think it is turning brown now. She can walk and wag her tail but I am very worried about her.
Optional Information: Type of Animal: Mixed breed Pet's Gender: Female Pet's Age: Two and a half Already Tried: Trying to get her to eat little bits but now she walks away.
Welcome to JustAnswer! I am a licensed veterinarian and would be glad to help!
If she ingested and vomited string, and has continued to vomit - the concern would be a possible blockage of the intestines.
Will she need an operation?
If there was a blockage - yes.
That would be diagnosed on either x-ray or ultrasound (along with the examination)
Ok.thanks
For now, just try to give very small amounts of water at a time to help maintain hydration
Until your vet is available.
Even with a dropper if you have that.
thank you, she is still drinking so hopefully this will help until the vet gets here.
