My puggle has never had an allergy issue but all of sudden in the last 3-4 days he has started snezzing. I took his temp and it was 100.5, he as no discharge that I can notice although is always licks his nose, very small amount of eye gunk. He is just as playful as always, eats and drinks the same. Have been giving hime OTC pet allergrie med from walmart and seen no change. Now my pug has started the same sneezing. Any idea what this could be? Hoping to avoid the vet bill if at all possible.

Welcome to JustAnswer! I am a licensed veterinarian and would be glad to help! From what you are listing, this is likely and allergic rhinitis. In case there is an allergic component, an antihistamine can be tried. I would consider using Benadryl (diphenhydramine). The dose will be 1mg for every 1 pound of body weight. For example, a 15 pound dog should receive 15mg of benadryl. You can start and then give a dose every 12 hours thereafter. Please be certain it is the product consisting of only Diphenhydramine and DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY OTHER INGREDIENTS SUCH AS A DECONGESTANT. If this does not resolve, or the signs worsen (snoring, green or yellow discharge, etc.) then I would recommend veterinary evaluation just to make sure an antibiotic is not needed._____________________________________________________________________Please click "ACCEPT" if the information I have provided has been of help so I receive credit for my work.
