Hi. Unless there is a real need to use metronidazole (Flagyl) for the mother, I would suggest to not use it. There is a small potential for tumorigenicity, consider using alternative therapy or switching to milk replacer for nursing patients. But of course, if there is a true need to use it because of infections such as giardia, so that the benefits outweights the risks, then it should be used.

No. There is no question. If you need to use dewormer, it is better to use pyrantel as it is completely safe to use, rather than using Flagyl.
