hi i have a gerbil whos aprox 3yrs old hes developed a small wound type injury to his belly it looks clean and is about 2cm around with what looks to be a scab and some loss of hair around it and although im very worried about him he is eating drinking and is alert still grooming etc he does live with a companion but they have never fought so iam unsure as too weather this is a tumour or an injury?

Hello, It is common for gerbils for get abscesses and minor skin infections. They get them from nipping at each other or getting a scratch from the cage. Whatever the cause, the treatment is topical management like you are doing and antibiotics from your vet.
