Is grapefruit safe to feed to rabbits, guinea pigs & hamsters

Resolved Question:

Is grapefruit safe to feed to rabbits, guinea pigs & hamsters? If not why not? ie does the high water content cause hamsters upset stomach? If so, would a freeze dried version or dry powder be ok?

I have read conflicting advice on whether they are safe to eat. Thank you.

Hi

Grapefruit is safe to eat and an excellent source of vitamin C which is only important for guinea pigs. In rabbits it is safe also, I think there is mixed evidence in hamsters, but probably is ok in small amounts.

I hope this helps.
