Can you give a dog vicodin?
Type of Animal: Rottweiler/SharpeiGender: maleAge: 9 Already Tried: he takes 1/2 a prednisone and fish oil each morning for his arthritis. He had a TPLO 6 years ago and her sometimes cant bend that leg without pain. He usually is better after a few days. He seems to be hurting a little more tonight. I will take him to the vet tomorrow.
Hi. I'm Dr. Lee and will do my best to help. I would not recommend using Vicodin for your dogs because of the acetaminophen. Dogs cannot metabolize it well and can become toxic quickly. Your best bet is to ask your veterinarian tomorrow for something called Tramadol, a human precription pain killer that helps with dogs as well. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks.
