HiCustomer

Thanks for using JustAnswer.com, I'm Dr. Dan and I'll try to help you.

Is the hair loss in the same spot as dark spot?

Can you describe the pattern of hairloss?

Is your dog gaining or losing weight?

Has your dog changed her eating patterns?

Has she changed her drinking patterns?

Is she itchy on her dark spot or in the areas of hair loss?

Finally what breed is she?

There are 4 causes of sudden hair loss and pigment changes in the skin.

1. Thyroid disease, there is a blood test for this, and can be treated by thyroid supplement. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=461

2. Cushings disease, there is a blood test for this and can be treated by drugs or surgery depending on if it's caused by the brain or the adrenal glands. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&C=&A=1193&SourceID=

3. Baldness, there are certain breeds (including chihuahua's) that have a baldness gene, this is proven only through surgery (skin biopsy).

4. Alopecia X, rare in Chihuahua's put possible:

I would strongly recommend seeing your vet for a thyroid and cushings test before it gets worse and is harder to control. I hope this helps, best wishes.
