my dogs penis won't go all the way back in, what should i do?
How long has it been out of the sheath? Is he in pain?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
It has been out for about 3 days, but not all the way out. maybe just a quarter inch now. It was extremely swollen 2 nights ago after he was humping a toy. He doesn't seem to be in pain
OK, thanks for the information. What breed is he? Is he neutered?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Tea cup chihuahua, neutered last month. he is 6 and a half months old and weighs 2 lbs.
OK, thanks for the information.

This problem is somewhat common in small breed dogs, and there's no real cure for it other than to surgically enlarge the opening of the sheath so that the penis can retract more easily. You can try to use some vaseline or K-Y jelly on the penis to try to allow it to retract back into the sheath, this often will work as long as the tissue is not excessively swollen.

If he is in any pain at all, I would recommend a veterinary visit ASAP.
