This is not likely to be related to your surgery a year ago.
Blood in the urine is potentially serous.
Infection is one possibility.
However, at age 76, if there is not a clear infection, this is a clear indication for cystoscopy, or scope of the bladder to rule out bladder cancer.
Some kidney problems can cause blood in the urine. Stones, however, would usually be very painful.
Kidney tumors can cuause this , usually painful.
Pain less blood that you can see can be quite serious.
I would get seen as soon as possible.
