This is Dr. David
not all yeast infections of the esophagus can be explained.
yeast like to grow in dark warm environments.
also if there is a lack of good bacteria like if you have taken antibiotics, this can allow yeast to grow
if you have suppression of your immune system, don't get enough sleep, or have a poor diet and poor immune system, this can allow yeast to grow as well.
taking steroid pills for a long period of time can suppress your immune system and allow yeast to grow in your esophagus.
did you have an upper endoscopy which found yeast in your esophagus?
