- male – 4.7 to 6.1 million cells per microlitre (cells/mcL)
- female – 4.2 to 5.4 million cells/mcL
You have a value of 7.6, which is high and should be further investigated by your doctor.
Possible reasons for such high RBC count are-
1. Cigarette smoking.
3. Low blood oxygen level (hypoxia).
4. Bone marrow disease.
5. Pulmonary fibrosis.
A thorough clinical examination and detailed evaluation can be done.
A repeat test after 3 months should be considered.
