Hi there I am a 60 year old female with metastatic renal cancer. i have had oral chemotherapy for 10 months (SUTENT). The side-effects became unbearable and I stopped chemo just over 3 months ago.I have had a de-tox and immune system building regime and the tumor is now stable.I am also on Mistletoe s/c. Overall, I feel better now one year after diagnosis. The oncologist suggested that i now have surgery. What is your opinion please, should i leave well alone or have the tumor removed? If so, would cryosurgery be an option? Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX

Thanks for your question. If I don't respond to you immediately, it is because I am busy with a patient. I WILL get back to you ASAP.Did your tumor shrink at all on your followup CT scans? Did the metastatic disease shrink or disappear?
Hi there
There was tumor shrinkage of approx 1cm after I had had 2 cycles (4weeks of chemo, 2 weeks rest) of chemotherapy. The next scan, again 12 weeks and another 2 cycles later, however showed an increase in tumor size (back to the original size). There hasn't been any change in size since even though I stopped chemo. Hope this is helpful.
Thanks R Karrer
Cryoablation is not going to help this tumor go away. If your urologist thinks that surgical removal of the tumor is best, XXXXX XXXXX should probably have this done. I can't make a definite recommendation since I have no way of seeing your CT scans. But sometimes, removal of the kidney can allow the metastatic tumors shrink with the Sutent therapy. I think you should follow your doctors recommendations. Hope this helps.
