Dr. Y : Thanks for your question. If I don't respond to you immediately, it is because I am either in the OR or traveling. I WILL get back to you ASAP.
Dr. Y : The Cystic chronic changes means there are simple non cancerous fluid sacs in the kidneys that have there for years. I don't know what they are referring to with stable changes. I can't tell what is stable.
Dr. Y : These cysts should not be the cause of recurrent infections. If you have infections, it is either due to low estrogen levels causing vaginal tissue atrophy or from incomplete bladder emptying. You may need to have a urologist examine you to determine if you have any of these problems. Hope this helps.

The test did mention that I have mild hydronephrosis on the right kidney and moderate on the left with no nephrolithiasis or perinephic fluid. I had upj surgery on the right kidney three years ago. What does this mean? Thanks

This could be an indication that the kidney is chronically dilated from the UPJ obstruction that you had for years. I'm not sure what's going on with the other side of your kidney, but it sounds like you need to see your urologist to consider doing a renal scan test to see if you have blockage of the kidneys again. This is the only thing that can delineate what is going on. Hope this helps.

I have been on cipro 500 mg for ten days. I have one pill left but still fill the urge to urinate frequently. Can the cipro cause this?? I honestly hate this medicine!! I have had some dizziness from it, stomach upset and a realky dry mouth!!

No. The cipro would not be causing the urge to urinate. That is a sign if a persistent infection that may require a different antibiotic. You should see your doctor to determine if you need a new urine culture and antibiotic.
