I HAD A TURP 10 YRS AGO, BUT NEVER BOTHERED TO SEE IF MY BLADDER WAS FULLY DRAINED, AND THEY SAID MY PROSTRATE IS A LITTLE ENLARGED BUT NOT SERIOUS. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO GO VERY OFTEN, BUT DO NOT PASS ANY AMOUNT OF URINE. THEY SAY MY BLADDER HAS ENLARGED OVER TIME. I DID HAVE BLOOD AND CLOTS IN MY URINE, LAST WEEK, BUT IT IS CLEARED UP AFTER THEY WENT IN AND CLEANED OUT MY BLADDER.
The blood is likely coming from an overdistended bladder. If you had a TURP in the past, then they need to look back in the prostate to see if has regrown on the inside. The urologist should also do a test called urodynamics, which is like an EKG for the bladder, to see if the bladder muscle has become damaged from chronic blockage. If it has, you may need to start intermittently catheterizing to get all the urine out to prevent this from happening again. Hope this helps.
