I have cystitus and woke up this a.m. with severe pain over both kidneys. What is the situation and should I go to the hospital?

I WILL get back to you ASAP.This is an indication that the infection may have spread to the kidneys causing a severe infection called pyelonephritis and this can be a severe infection that requires hospitalization. You need to see a doctor for a urine culture and you will likely need to be started on a strong antibiotic such as Cipro to treat this. Hope this helps.
