Dr. Y : Thanks for your question. If I don't respond to you immediately, it is because I am either in the OR or traveling. I WILL get back to you ASAP.
Customer :

okay thanks

Dr. Y : Protein in the urine can be a sign of kidney disease. However, it can also be present just from inflammation in the kidney. This could be due to a kidney infection. Since she only has one kidney, she definitely needs a full evaluation by a nephrologist. They should start by doing a 24-hour urine collection to see exactly how much protein she is losing in the urine. If it is a large amount of protein , there is a possibility she may need a biopsy of the kidney to figure out what the underlying cause is. Hope this helps and let me know if you have questions.
