I recently was 29 days inpatient for opiates & alcohol. First ua done showed benzo's since they give librium during detox for first 72 hours. 2nd UA was contaminated so wasn't tested. Day 28 did another UA before I left. Day 29 left inpatient and immediately went to outpatient where another UA was done. Day 38 UA done. Found out today that the last 3 UA's came up positive for Benzo's. My drug of choice was percocet not Benzos. MY counselor thinks I have been lying about my drug use. The only thing that could be a factor is while Inpatient, day 10 took mucinex for a week to prevent getting sicker. day 17 a nurse practioner diagnosed me with bronchitis. order Prednisone, augmentin, ventolin and benzonatate. 7 days later still had a rattle in my lungs was prescribed Avelox. Still taking the prednisone, ventolin and benzonatate. Now i am done with inpatient and doing outpatient. 5 days after leaving inpatient go to my own dr since I was still sick. she prescribed fluticasone propionate, Qvar a steriod inhaler and more benzonatate. I was told by a pharmacist that the benzonatate will not test positive for benzodiazepines but could any of these other meds cause a false positive? also took diclofenac for my rheumatoid arthritis everyday as well as the meds for bronchitis
Optional Information: Person's Gender: Female Person's Age: 52 Already Tried: I just found out tonight about all the positive ua's which make me look like I am using. I have 42 days clean but obviously have to prove that I am not using benzos.
Hello there,Please be patient, as I may be in the operating room, with a patient, or driving but will get back to you ASAP.
Hello, Avelox can test positive for Opiates. None of the medications you listed are common causes for benzodiazepine false positives. Hope this helps.
