Customer Question

I took my bike test about 13 years ago, I moved to Dubai 4 years ago and when i sent off my paper licence the plastic licence had the motorbik entitlement removed as i had not sent my paper licence back within 2 years,, this was news to me!

Is there anyway i can get my entitlement restored?

Do they not have a record of the entitlement?

Do you have a copy of either? When was this?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Its about 13 years ago, as for them having a copy, i have no idea, one would think that once a test has been taken and passed that the examiner would have a record of it.

It may take me some time to locate the details, it was some time ago.

Thank you. I am aware of the problem.

I have ridden motorcycles for many years and it has been
widely reported in the press and motorcycle forums.

The DVLA records are incomplete and they are taking a
hard line even though it is their fault. Here is one such thread

If you can find copy license showing the entitlement you
have a chance if you send it to them but otherwise I am afraid that you are
faced with taking your test again.

I have a licensed copy in my top drawer for exactly the
same first came to light a few years ago.

The problem is that there is no way of differentiating
those people who genuinely did have the entitlement and the say they had,
because they want it, and are now maintaining that they lost it.

If you know the date and location of where you took your
test it may assist but those records may have already been destroyed

I wish I could give you better news, but there is no
point in me misleading view. You are one of tens of thousands probably who are
in the same situation

Can I help further?
