I have just received a fixed penalty and 3 point endorsement for driving at 59mph in a 50 zone , I have a 20yr unblemished driving record and the only reason i was actually on the road the time in question was because of a serious family emergency which i can prove, can i contest this ticket in court?
Optional Information: Province/Country relating to question : united kingdom Already Tried: nothing, just sent the 1st notice back to confirm i was the driver, then i received the FPN, and was given 28 days to pay and send back my licence, this is already expired by 3days as I am looking after a very sick person and there illness has took priority and I just have not had a chance to return it.
Thanks for your question. Please remember to rate my answer SMILEY FACE OR ABOVE so that I am credited for my time.If you have no other points firstly see if you can have the driver improvement course. This is part of a day and you wont get any points.Otherwise you could attend Court but you would have to plead guilty and plead special reasons. This is where the Court has power not to give you points. But it can only do this if you plead guilty with special reasons. The court can take into account what you say but will also need evidence of the medical emergency. Please remember to click *** SMILEY FACE *** or above so that I am credited for my time. Thank you. Important: If you feel the need to rate as one of the lower two scores, it counts as negative feedback so please reply to me via the REPLY with any further questions you may have. I will be happy to assist you further.
