Hi.
There is no statute of limitation on taxes in England and Wales as you can read here:
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/dmbmanual/DMBM595080.htm
Scotland and Northern Ireland have slightly different rules.
Given the situation you are in, you would be well advised to seek out an accountant or tax adviser with tax investigation experience who can look at your figures if you have any and to represent you in any communication with HMRC.
