Hi, me and my sister have inherited our parents house in the will, she has offered £70,000 for my half of the house which is valued at £140,000. Will I have to pay capital gains tax on this as I do not see a gain as I own half the house?

Hi there,

Thanks for your enquiry.

I am pleased to confirm that there will be no CGT for you to pay because there is no tax payable by beneficiaries in respect of legacies received. As you say, all you are doing is receiving your entitlement.

I hope this answers your question, and if so, I would be grateful if you could leave positive feedback.

Kind Regards

AL
