Question concerning CGT on the sale of UK Corporate Bonds. I

This answer was rated:

Question concerning CGT on the sale of UK Corporate Bonds.
I seem to remember that if a Corporate Bond is sold at a profit before it is redeemed, the profit is not subject to CGT. Can that be true?
I am UK resident, high rate tax payer, and will have more than £10.9 gains in 13/14.
Thanks for your help. XXXXX XXXXX.

If your bond was a qualifying corporate bond then any gains will be exempt from Capital Gains Tax as you will read here. The defintion of a non-qualifying corporate bond is here. You should check with your broker or the company who issued the bond to confirm its status.

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any further questions.
