Customer Question

Hi,
I’m working in UK from april 2010 till now in ASDA with 30 hours contract, my monthly income is around £850 after tax and NIC, and i have not applied ever to get my Tax return.

Question 1) Do you think that i can get some tax return? If yes, then some idea (how much in total)?

Question 2) Can i get the tax return form april 2010 to till now , together? Or i can get/apply only for year 2011/2012?

Question 3) can i send the photocopies of my P60’s , or do i have to send original? IF i have to send only originals, then will i get my P60’s back?

question 4) can i apply online to get my tax return? i thought it is possible(but not sure), and i don’t know exactly that how it is possible, i have tried to find on HMRS that how to do/apply, but i have not got nothing, very complicated site for me. Please guide me, if you know about it.

looking forward for answers

Hi

Thanks for your questions

1)You should have paid the right tax, for both 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 tax year (although may have been on emergency tax for tax year 2010/2011) but can still ask HMRC to review your case to see if a refund is due. If you can advise the income and tax paid, I can calculate if anything is due back to you.

2) If refunds are due, then both years can be reviewed and repaid (if applicable)

3) You will need to send the original P60s and then HMRC will return them to you after dealing with any refund review.

4) No you cannot apply online you need to write to HMRC with your P60s

Thanks

Sam
