Hello, I am 70 years of age and recieve income from my State Pension, Army Pension, a small BT Pension and a small contracted out of Surps Pension, these total about £14,000 pa before Tax. My wife is 60 years of age and because of back problems had to stop working from 1 September 2012, she is not entittled to her State Pension until she is 61years & 9 months which is September 2013. She does receive a small Occupational Pension of about £1,400.00pa. I am of course taxed on all my Pensions after my State Pension has been taken out of my Tax free allowance.Do you know if I can claim any thing through HMCR due to these cicumstances
Optional Information: System of Law: England-and-Wales Already Tried: I have only tried to gain information from HMCR on the internet, with I'm afraid much success. Thank you
Hello, if you have any questions or need further clarification after reading my answer please let me know.
You can only claim married couple's allowance where at least one spouse was born before 6 Apr 1935, I'm afraid.
More information on Married Couple's Allowance and how it works can be found here
