Your tax reference number is XXXX unique tax reference number...
It is a 10 digit number normally shown as 12345 67890. You should be able to see it on any correspondence from the the tax Office e.g. SA302 Tax calculation summary, SA 300 Self Assessment Statement etc.
If you are referring to tax reference number for your company, then again this should be quoted on any corporation tax related correspondence from HMRC.
OR are you referring to password XX access service online?

You stated you have your gateway ID number. You need both your ID number and your password XX access information online. If you have lost your password, you should be able to request a new password XX post. When you log in there is a section that says "lost password" and that takes you to another page where you can request new password XXXXXX.
Your tax reference number and date of issue can only be released to you by HMRC. This service is not part of or associated with HMRC.
If you have lost your self assessment UTR number, you can contact self assessment helpline and they will send you your number in the post .. contact details are here
