Hi JACUSTOMERThanks for your questionWith the new PAYE system that the tax office are using - it has issued many inaccurate codes, and it may be that the self employment employment and pensions have been added up - with the assumption that you will be a 40% taxpayer. As your income for this tax year is clearly less than £43875 - you should be on code BR (20%) with your employment As you have found getting through to the tax office is nigh on impossible, but if you call as soon after 8am as possible or as near to 8pm - you will have more success in getting through. Also there is now a dedicated line set up for incorrect codes - the number is XXXXX 3000 627. ThanksSam
