if my ex husband is working for a personal friend of his,and is only declearing a small amount of hours to inland revenue so the csa will only award a small amount per week toward his son, however the personal friend is paying him cash in hand and also has at least 50 other people cash in hand working for him,is there anyway that an independent body can audit the business even if i have to pay?i also know the personal friend well from when i was married and i know 100%that the books are incorect

Hi Richie claims9988
Thanks for your question
A business can only be audited through request of the business - however you have the right to report this to HMRC, as this is tax evasion on behalf of the employer and each of the employees - and HMRC will be interested that tax and National Insurance are not being paid over appropriately - this may remedy the position long term , but in honesty may not help you short term with your CSA position.
See link here to advise HMRC of your concerns of the tax evasion - taking some steps now to help you long term is worthwhile- but its only fair to advise this will not produce a short term outcome
Thanks
Sam
