You can earn £6475 per year free of tax and in your case the rest will be taxed at 20%

Assuming you have no company benefits -


So Income 22,000 - equates to £1833.33 per month

Less Free pay 6,475

Chargeable 15525 x 20% = £3105 - which equates to £258.75 per month


Do not forget there is also National Insurance that will be deducted (this contributes towards state pension and other state benefits)

This will be £ 149.27 per month

So from a gross pay of £1833 you will take home £1424.98 (£1833 less £258.75 tax and £149.27 National Insurance)
