The power light is on.

There is plenty of cold water coming out.
I don't know how old the unit.

Please can anybody help.

Hi my name is XXXXX XXXXX lets see if we can get you sorted in the shortest possible time. Do you get any heat if you select the lower temperature and leave to run for a bit?

Customer replied314 days and 16 hours ago.

Hi Andrew, I have just tried that and the water comes out cold.

Are you able to take the cover off and use a multimeter?

Customer replied314 days and 16 hours ago.

Hi Andrew, I am able to do that but I don't have any tools with me tonight.

No problem, come back to me when you have the kit and we can go through it together. Don't answer until you are ready.

Hi, I have a meter and have now taken the front panel of the shower unit.
Thanks

The water heater unit is on the right. Can you check the electrical connection on the top of the heater and see if there is any power there.

Customer replied313 days and 15 hours ago.

Hi,
It reads 132v ac

It sounds like the power switch is not allowing enough voltage through. Can you check the voltage into the unit - it should be 240V Live to neutral and live to earth.

Customer replied313 days and 14 hours ago.

checked it across the choccy block 240v

Picture
Expert:  Andrew Smith replied313 days and 14 hours ago.

Ok, it is pointing to the main switch not allowing the full voltage through, if you have 240V in - you have 240V to the element. Can you check at the element again Live to Earth and Live to Neutral with the meter.

Customer replied313 days and 14 hours ago.

hello just checked again and it has 240 to the poles on top of the element

Expert:  Andrew Smith replied313 days and 14 hours ago.

Do you have 2 sets of connections - low power and full power? If not then you need a new element.

Customer replied313 days and 14 hours ago.

I have 3 settings low medium and high

Picture
Expert:  Andrew Smith replied313 days and 10 hours ago.

How many sets of electrical connections on the heating element?

Customer replied313 days and 3 hours ago.

there are 4 poles on the element

Picture
Expert:  Andrew Smith replied312 days and 16 hours ago.

There will be a live and a neutral for each element

Customer replied312 days and 15 hours ago.

okay so in that case it looks like I have 2 elements is it likely that both of them have blown?

Picture
Expert:  Andrew Smith replied312 days and 15 hours ago.

Yes - one will be for low, the other for medium, then both are on for high.

Customer replied312 days and 15 hours ago.

so is there a way to check that they are definitely not working, ie continuity check.

Picture
Expert:  Andrew Smith replied312 days and 14 hours ago.

A continuity test would tell you whether the elements are working. You should check the power to each element

Customer replied312 days and 3 hours ago.

Thanks
