The power to my electric shower appears to cut out upon switching it on - the light on the isolator switch goes out and the shower just spits out cold water. It is a Gainsborough shower though I am unsure of the model number - it doesn't appear to be on the manual or the shower itself.
Already Tried: Turned power on and off, taken case off the shower to look for anything obvious, changed the fuse on the circuit. Problem definitely seems to be occurring between the isolator switch and the shower unit but the wiring appears fine
if there is no power do you see any evidence of an internal leak? since the power won't stay on then there must be an internal short and it is grounding out and shutting down. if the water never heats there may be a leak in the coil. if it is an older unit i would recommend replacement. if it is less than two years old i would recommend contacting the manufacturer. they are often very helpful in these matters.
Experience: I have been doing plumbing work for 20 years. Both servicing and new construction installation on high end homes.
Can I still help?
The problem was within the isolator switch itself 240v were going in and only 70v coming out - I've changed that and everything appears to be working againThanks for your help though
Ok
