Customer Question

I am in the process of moving into a new house with a Baxi solo boiler, I can get the radiators to come on and they are great, but I cannot get the water to heat the tank without having the radiators on aswell, I have a Randal timer switch and when on 'water only' the boiler does not fire up. When on 'water and heating' the radiators and tank heat. Any suggestions as to how I get hot water without having to put the radiators on? Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks

Already Tried:
I have tried the timer switch in each setting, the emersion heater also works but is not cost effective. There is an electricty supply to the water only switch when it was tested today.

Hi I am Rick, UK Plumber, and I specialize on Boiler problems, if you look in the cylinder cupboard you should find a motor valve or two, I would like to know if it is one valve with three pipes or two valves, and the make of the valves would help, Rick

Hi, thanks for your reply, I will have a look when I go back to the house in the morning, I may take a photo and send that it may be easier for you to understand, I am not technical and dont want to give the wrong info. I will write down any names I see on valves etc. Regards Gaynor

No problem, it may help if you also look at the thermostat that is on the side of the hot cylinder, as this could also be your problem, I will be about tomorrow but come and go, Rick

Hi I have taken some photos, but this will not let me attach them in either pdf or other format, do you have an email address I can forward them to? I didnt get the email about the thermostat in time so have not checked that. It is a Baxi Solo WM 50/4 RS serial number is XXXXX . Would have been easier to send a picture :(

Regards Gaynor

OK pictures are good but we can work without them, did you find one or two valves? Rick
