Hello and Welcome to justanswer..Im sorry to see you have a wait on your question - You mention the flat spotting you have found to be caused by a loom fault - so where in the loom is that , do you know ?How can I help you further - ?Kind Rgds, MIKE.......................................
i dont know where it is in the loom they have said its a prob' that they are aware of i understand it is due to the design of the loom makeup something to due to the lights (i think) being incorporated within the loom ?????

Hello again, thank you for that - The looms are known for chaffing and breaking inside - what you need to have checked is the loom for continuity - the best way to do this is to have diagnostic equipment on it as you have arranged - That is the quickest and most cost effective way because it will tell straightway what circuit is affected - (usually engine management ) and ID the area of loom quickly that way - then it has to be manually traced / stripped to find and cure the fault.Sometimes, its just bad connection - solder connections do suffer on these I have seen several - but that is the quickest way to do this / find and cure it, if it cant be found manually.I assume its been checked manually already - but if not, it needs to be checked very carefully, twisting the loom over and round especially where it runs near metal parts of the engine - they are favorite for chaffing, rubbing through on metal parts and splitting the wires causing what you have -and other faults too as it progresses..So work through as above on this one now progressing to the diagnostic if needed.Another very common issue on this model is for the Ecu ( engine management computer ) to develop bad connections - especially the earth circuit - so ensure that is checked first.

would you have any idea of likley cost to put it right i dont want to get ripped off
Hi there... Thank you for that - Now that is a bit difficult for me to answer to be perfectly honest - one because labour rates / prices vary so much around the country - and even between garages - and two, because this sort of problem can take 10 mins to trace and sort - or literally a couple of hours or more..So really, you can see that I cant really answer that. The best advice would be to ask them what they charge per hour -and ask them for an estimate as to cost of outcome. They will know what they charge obviously - and with that info, you may decide to shop around - call a few garages and get prices ... you can save a lot of money that way...I dont know where you are but this link HERE I have uploaded for you may be helpful...I hope so.... it helps you locate garages in your area - good ones generally that you should be able to trust...I hope that helps you at least some, further -Best Rgds, MIKE.
thanks once again mike i'm based in bournemouth
You're very welcome..Best Rgds, MIKE.
