Customer Question

I was caught with a small amount of cocaine last night, I was drunk and lost my purse. I said yo the police I didn't know but they said tell me or we take your purse. So I said it was some guy I didn't know who he was in the street. They didn't caution me or arrest me, they just took my details and told me to keep an eye on the post. What is going to happen?

Any help?
Expert:  Jo C. replied 1 year ago.

They could invite you in for interview.

You might hear nothing. They don't always follow up every instance of possession.

It is impossible to predict the outcome of this particular instance but it is possible that you could receive an invitation to interview, a summons to court or a written warning.

I would have expected them to arrest you immediately if they were going to but it can't be guaranteed.

Can I clarify anything for you?

Can they arrest me now? Should I expect a fine in the post?
Expert:  Jo C. replied 1 year ago.

They could but they won't. It serves no purpose.

It is possible that they could send you a fixed penalty offer in the post.
