1 was convicted of assault and battery and fined �1500. is this part Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. I need to know as my building/contents insurer will not insure convicted applicants.

If you were convicted in England or Wales then the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 will apply. The conviction is not yet ''spent" so it will have to be disclosed.

There have been recent changes to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act which means that now a fine is spent after ONE YEAR regardless of when the fine is paid.
So your fine will be spent in a March 2016.
