If I buy an unfurnished flat with the intention to rent do

Resolved Question:

If I buy an unfurnished flat with the intention to rent do I have to pay council tax?
If I furnish but have not yet rented the flat out am I liable for the council tax (on the basis I am living elsewhere and already paying council tax)?

After your house has been empty and unfurnished for six weeks you can be excused from paying council tax for the house for up to six months. If it is still empty and unfurnished after six months, you may be able to get a discount on your council tax bill.
