Can my 16 year old daughter travel abroad without parental consent. Im am divorced from her dad and we have shared custody. it is a friend of her dads who wants to take her away. No family members will be traveling with her.

Hi

 

If she is 16 then she is free to go anywhere she likes without parental custody unless there is a court order governing where she will reside beyond that.

 

She does not need your consent to apply for a passport or, I'm afraid, to leave the country.

She has a passport that was issued before she turned 16. If I felt the person she is travelling is unstable is it possible to prevent her travelling. Is she not still a child in the eyes of the law
