I purchased a used BMW from Adventure Autos in Northampton on the understanding it had full BMW service history and it had just had a service, the booklet would be stamped by the local bmw garage and sent on to me. Having received the service booklet today it has not got full bmw service history the garage I bought it from simply stamped the book. The advert for the bmw said full service history and the sales girl reiterated this fact when we viewed the car. Is there any recourse can I insist they bring the car service history up to date at a bmw garage?
Hello, It appears that you have a good case for misreprsentation under the Misrepresentation Act 1967 and can have the purchase set aside and obtain a full refund. So, if your garage cannot deliver what they advertised, give them the car back and get a full refund. Hope this helps
Thanks for that, but can I insist they bring the car's service history up to date, at their expense, at a bmw garage?
Yes you can also do that as you purchased the car on that basis.
