Customer Question

I have a Ford Fiesta 1.4 with semi auto. For the past few weeks, my car won't start and a message appears on the dashboard - "malfunction".
JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. I have noticed that when it doesn't start, the break pedal is really stiff as well. no i haven't checked the battery
JA: What year is your Fiesta?
Customer: 2005
JA: Are you fixing your Fiesta yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, if it is a minor fix, i don't mind fixing it otherwise was hoping to take it to ford, but it might be expensive to fix?
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no, that's it
