I've just brought a focus estate titanium 09 plate and I can't connect my phone to it

Hi there ,good evening to you

Ok the most common concern we see with this issue is a software glich /lock up

Basically the bluetooth module becomes confused and locks up due to the different software levels in numerous smart phones

This shows mute when you press the voice button

The first thing that must be done before going any further is to reset the Bluetooth module

To do this remove fuse 112 (15amp ) from the fuse box under the glove box (passengers footwell)

Leave this fuse out for 5-10 minutes then refit it

(you WILL need the radio code )

If you need the code I can generate it for you (I need the serial number )

If the fault is still present then the next step is to have the Bluetooth module software updated

IF you have a USB port fitted to the vehicle (newer models )you can download and update the software using a memory stick

The software update is downloaded with instructions from fords website

You can also check how compatible your phone is at this website

you cani only have this done at a main ford dealer that can update the Bluetooth module software

Which can rectify a host of issues from phone book to connectivity

The reason being This is done through a special lead that is connected to the Bluetooth module

The main reason behind most Bluetooth connectivity issues is The software differences the phones and the Bluetooth module

Eg Your 2009 model woundnt have been tested on the latest phone software
