MIKE : Hello and Welcome to justanswer....
MIKE : Hi there... can you please give me the cars full reg number..
Customer :

l

Customer :

LB 55OWG

MIKE : thank you- while I bring that up - what is its mileage - and service history like?
MIKE : is that LLB ?
MIKE : or LB 55 OWG
Customer :

82000 history good

MIKE : is that LB55 OWG?
Customer :

LB 55 OWG

MIKE : thank you.. is it due a service at all ?
Customer :

in about 3000 miles

MIKE : Ok - I ask because your cause of your issues as outlined on this particular model is one of three things - usually covered on servicing -to explain..
MIKE : 1 is air leaks - inlet air / vacuum leaks on or around the inlet system -pipes etc
MIKE : 2 is dirty IAC valve
MIKE : 3 is dirty TB .. thats the Throttle body
MIKE : So it may be worth, money wise, having the service done now then as its so close- as servcing wouldcover those causes / faults..
MIKE : my aplogies, the system is a little slow tonight
MIKE : If you dont want to have servicing done-
MIKE : then the thing to do is check all around the inlet side of the engine - pipes seals etc and wiggle the pipes etc - any persihed or loose fitting pipes will accentuate any inlet air leaks -
MIKE : any such leaks will cause this problem...
MIKE : If its not that -then the thing to do is remove the top off he TB and using a spray cleaner from car shops for this job, give the TB a thorough clean ...
MIKE : spray liberally down inside the TB and into the orrifices etc - clean to the throttle plate - open it manually and clean the edges of the flap and chamber --with the spray and a lintfree cloth.
MIKE : Other than that , you would have to remove the IAC valve which is at the back of the engine right hand side below the inlet manifiold and give that a thorough clean - its a good idea to buy a new gasket first to refit it--and then see how it is.
MIKE : IF it doesn't respond ...then the usual cause is that it needs a new IAC valve - but usually one or the other as above cures this issue on these engines.
MIKE : So thats your way forward on this one now..
MIKE : That will also cure your fuel / mpg issues as well as that will be having an effect on that for sure..
Customer :

just one question, what does IAC stand for?

MIKE : Im sorry... IAC - Idle air control valve

Hi ..

Thank you for the positive rating - that is highly appreciated..

I just wanted to be sure you noticed that I did respond re your IAC valve question - if you scroll up you will see that there..again though, Idle air control valve.

While this affects / controls your idling, with normal idle , it will hold your revs high as you have if its sticking / dirty inside - or faulty... (just to explain there )

I hope thats all ok for you...

Kind Rgds, MIKE.
