is there another gearbox that i could fit to 2.9 engine for rear wheel drive only or can mt75 be converted to take off the front transfer box

Hello again,
the simplest option would be to fit the MT 75 transmission from a 2WD 2.9 from a Granada. The later 2.9 Scorpio (not 24V) would also fit the sierra. As far as I'm aware the Sierra 2.9L was 4X4 only hence using a Granada or Scorpio transmission.
The 2.0L also uses the MT 75 transmission but this won't fit the 2.9L so don't be under the impression that all the MT 75 2WD transmissions are the same.
Let me know if I can assist further,
best wishes,
Sean.

thanks sean.i will look for one of these. i am getting a lot of grief for considering cutting up a perfectly good 3 door shell to fitXXXXXoff various forums. as always your time is appreciated.thanks tony
Hello again, I can understand why, 3 door cars are so rare now. You'll find there are 4X4 Cosworth drivers who want to convert their cars to 2WD for various reasons so it's not unusual.
Regards,
tell me about it. there is a 2.9 5 speed gearbox on ebay and ad states 4w4 does that mean anything to you, tony
I suspect that they mean 4X4 rather than 4W4. If you can post the link here I'll have a look,
Ford Granada Mk3 '85-'94 4x4 GEARBOX 5 speed /2.9 4w4 Petrol
Hello again, from that description it is a 4WD so is no different to the transmission you already have.
Let me know,
regards,
thanks i will keep looking
Good luck with your search.
thanks sean,
No problem.
