Transit..a new egr valve fitted and air flow meter but it..van

Resolved Question:

i have a 2.2 dieasal transit on a 56 plate it has recentely had a new egr valve fitted and air flow meter but it still comes up with code 1402 egr valve port restricted this code will not go away and is there all the time even when plugged into code machineand the van runs errraticaly ! any ideas thanks

Hello and Welcome... can I just ask, who / what sort of garage has been working on the van for you ..doing the diagnostic tests etc ?

Customer:

mine independant garage have been using snap on solus pro plugged in egr fault came up put new one on van seemed ok

Customer:

but soon after customer returned and fault code stays on wont go out at all

MIKE :

I get you .. has the manifold etc - where it fits - been all removed and thoroughly cleaned through?

Customer:

no i did wonder if the egr pipe may be restricted as it says on the fault code ger port restricted !but removeing egr pipe looks clear

MIKE :

ok yes - well, the definition for that code is - "restriction of flow" - -so its not neceserrily a faulty egr ( though can be ) but if the valve is ok, or new - its 9/10 down to a clogging / restriction in the manifold etc.

MIKE :

Im afraid its a a removal job to do it properely. The only other worth a mention is a software update on the Ecu - some needed this to cure these issues... you would have to check on with the local dealer - giving them the vans VIN for them to check if thats needed on that one.

do yuo think that if the egr was faullty for as period of time this may cause a build up of carbon in pipe/manifold port ?

MIKE :

Yes it can do this as system is not / was not working as efficiently as it should ..but often its the other way round !

ok thanks i will check all pipework and then book in for software update
