i have an escort rs turbo non starter with fuel to cold start injector only, no fuel to cylinder injectors. Anyone help please??
Year : 1988Make : FordModel: escort rs turboEngine: 1.6 cvh ke jetronic Already Tried: car runs on cold start injector alone, with cold start injector permanently powered on, but no fuel through fuel distribution unit to cylinder injectors. fuel pressure 7 bar, gauge only reads 7 bar max, between fuel filter and fuel distribution unit. Fuel pump replaced due to not working at all. Nothing else has been replaced. O-ring split between air flow sensor base and fuel distribution unit, not replaced yet could this be the cause??
HelloIf the fuel pump is running OK tehn pop the rubber top off the air meter / fuel distributuion unit and push the plunger down by hand as this should result in fuel coming out of the injector.See the attached diagram for how it all works
Hi Matt i've tried what you said and no fuel comes out of the injector, also tried new electrical actuator which is bolted to the side of the metering head, poss faulty metering head?
Hello MarkIf you're getting fuel up to the metering head and nothing at the injector then I suspect that either the main metering needle ( item 21 on diagram) is stuck or the one way valve ( item 7) in the metering head immediately after the needle is stuck. Or there's no power to the electrical actuator / fuel shut off valve ( item 20)There's almost nothing to go wrong with the metering head so if there is a line blocked then stripping it down and cleaning it all out should sort it out.If you remove the top nut in the middle of the metering unit there should be some fuel there and you should be able to inspect he main needle by tip and seat and clean off any debris.I do think the most likely problem is no power to the fuel cut off actuator valve so investigate this first.350matt40096.4424815162
HelloI don't know if the actuator is only supposed to use 8v ( I'd doubt it tho') the thing to do is use and airline ( or a footpump) to blow through the fuel lines so you can work through the problem and see if the passageways are being opened as they should.By the sounds of it the actuator isn't getting enough voltage and so not opening, (hence my suggestion with the airline)
