My daughters father has never wanted to see her. She is 18 months old. Now he has started turning up at our home at all hours of the day and night. Constantly phoning and texting and general harrasement. Is now threatening to take me to court for access. My daughter does not know him and I don't want him to see her as he has not been interested in her welfare. Can I stop him gaining access?
Hi
I am afraid that in general terms the courts view contact with her father as the right of the child and his previous lack of interest will not be enough to stop contact happening now,
However he does not have the right to harass you, and you should keep careful note of every time he approaches you and report it tot he police.
so far as contact is concerned since is a stranger to the child, and you have no reason to trust his commitment to her, you should suggest contact take s place one a fortnight at a local contact centre (www.naccc.org.uk) with luck on your side he will get fed up quickly and just give up.
