Hi Jules,

What is the make and model number of the amp, please?

Is there any sign of life from it? (e.g. a lit or flashing LED)

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The amp was a separate unit (Sony) we want to go back to using the tv's speaker that is attached to the tv

What is the make and model number of the amp, please?

How was it connected to the TV?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ignore the amp this has nothing to do with it. I want the TV speaker to work
Expert:  Pete replied 1 year ago.

The TV's built-in speaker should work automatically, as long as it is not muted, and the volume is turned up.
