ElectronicsPete : Hello,

ElectronicsPete : Please try the following:
ElectronicsPete : 1. Turn off the power supply to your DVD player.
ElectronicsPete : 2. Press and hold the Open/Close button whilst turning the power supply back on.

When you press the Open/Close button whilst the player is turned on, can you hear any motorised sounds?

Customer replied 249 days and 3 hours ago.

Yes, it whirs for a bit then stops

Ok, then it's likely that the disc is stuck inside the player and is unable to be ejected.
As the "power on-force eject" method did not work, the only other way to extract the disc is by removing the top cover off the player and retrieving the stuck disc manually.

Customer replied 249 days and 3 hours ago.

Ok ,will try that.Might be a while. Thanks for the mo and will get back to you.

Ok Clive, let me now how it goes...

Customer replied 249 days and 2 hours ago.

Disc now retrieved.Eject mechanism then worked with cover off but not with cover on now even with all screws in.Think I need a new player! Not sure I would have trusted it anyway.

Thank you in eastern USA?

I am in the UK.
If the eject mechanism does not work when the cover is on, then there may be a mechanical defect preventing the tray ejecting. You may be able to locate the cause of the defect and modify it, or just replace the player if it is old and unreliable.
