My TVOnics Z500 doesn't respond to the remote anymore as of last Friday. I am unable to turn it on from Standby Mode (the batteries are fine). The remote also operates the DVD player and TV OK if you set it to the appropriate mode (both these buttons shine green when pressed. The DVR one is red). Is it the remote that's broken? Thanks
Already Tried: Changing batteries, switching the DVR off and on
Hello,
I am Pete, and I'll be happy to assist you today.
It is unlikely that the remote is broken if it is still controls the DVD player and TV.
You can test if it is emitting a signal by viewing it on a digital screen (e.g. a digital camera or a mobile phone with camera facility) whilst you press the buttons on the remote...
if it is emitting IR light, this will be 'visible' on the digital screen as a faint blue light.
Try pressing the DVR button again whilst viewing it on a digital screen... If you can see the light being emitted, then the remote is working but the DVR is not receiving the signal.
If the remote is emitting a signal and you are able to turn on the DVR using the standby button on the DVR itself, then the fault is with the IR receiver on the DVR.
I'm sorry, I am unable to see your response at my end...Can you please refresh your web page and try again?

What can be done if it is the IR reciever? and who'll will fix that?. Thanks for your help
Hi Michelle, Thanks for getting back to me. First, ensure the DVR is not behind a glass door and that no dust is covering the IR receiver. Try operating the remote control very close to the receiver. If the IR receiver is still not working, it will need to be repaired. If the DVR is less than 1 year old then it is still under warranty and you can have it repaired free of charge by them. A local electronics repair shop can order in the correct parts and replace it for you - it shouldn't cost more than $80-100 for parts and labor. Please remember to rate my service highly :) If you need any further information, don't hesitate to reply to me. If you have any difficulty with the rating system, please let me know.
