Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, a possibility to consider is an issue with the mic's PTT switch, the mic cord and/or a cold solder at the mic connector. Has another mic been tried? Has the SEND / REC button been tried?

If not a mic problem, then it would be an internal hardware issue. The unit would have to be opened up for visual inspection, voltage measurements, confirm fault and effect repairs.

Are you then considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach? Are you familiar with electronic components, have access to / comfortable in the use of a multimeter and perhaps even a soldering iron/hot-air station? Equally important, could you make use of the repair / Service Manual?

Please post back how you would want to approach this and/or should you need additional information.

Hi , Yes I am a retired Electronics engineer (76) TV I have a soldering iron, Digital test meter etc. I have checked the Mic Ptt and it is working Ok plus the solder joints are good on the plug. I do not have a service manual only a user manual.

Great on the DIY!

and has the SEND/REC button been tried?

An electronic copy of the Service Manual would be sent to your email through the kindness of a moderator. May not be that immediate though.

The Service Manual is in pdf format and would require Adobe Acrobat Reader or equivalent.

Of particular interest would be p. 79 showing the schematics of the IF Unit X60-1300-00. Check pin 1 (SS/13) of J27 for PTT action.

Hi Thank you for the reply, and yes I have tried the Send/Rec button with the same outcome as the PTT. Thank you for the manual when I get it I will have a look at Pin 1 of the J27. Do you know what the voltage should be? Regards Tony (G$FZF)

Pin 1 would be ~ 5V on RX and go down to 0V when PTT is engaged.

If I may ask, are all other functions normal (except the PTT/SEND)?

Customer replied 285 days and 1 hours ago.

Hi, Yes all the other functions are ok

Copy that.

Please post back when the Service Manual has been downloaded.
